Welcome to the

Please Take a moment to learn more about us and discover who we are, our mission and our members. On this website you will find information on Roman Catholic churches, schools, hospitals and other institutions in the Pontiac and North Oakland County area.
The Pontiac Area Vicariate warmly welcomes Sr. Simone Campbell to our annual assembly. This year we focus our attention on the challenges faced by those struggling with poverty in
today’s political climate. Sr. Simone brings to our gathering many years of hands-on experience helping the poor through our country’s social and political systems. She is presently the National Coordinator of NETWORK, a Catholic social justice lobby. Prior to this, she was the Executive Director of JERICHO, a California inter-faith public policy organization working to protect the
interests of the poor and disenfranchised through education, coalition building and direct advocacy. Sr. Simone was appointed as lead attorney for the Community Law Center in Oakland, California, and has served on multiple boards and committees addressing poverty and family law. She has also served as the general director of her international religious community, the Sisters of Social Service. She remains an active member of the State Bar of California, holding her J.D. degree from the University of California, Davis, where she served as Law Review Articles Editor.
Our Area Church is honored to host Sr. Simone as she guides us to an understanding of where our country is today, and where we can go if there is enough will. The Pontiac Area
Vicariate invites everyone to follow Pope Francis’ words: “Among our tasks as witnesses to the love of Christ is that of giving a voice to the cry of the poor.”
